Bible Class Registration - Winter Quarter 2011
* Denotes a new class this quarter.
Sunday Class Descriptions
I, II & III John (AUD) - Tradition holds that the apostle John was the last of the apostles to die ... perhaps the only one of the apostles to die a natural death. The three letters of John are different one from another. Two of them are personal letters which give beautiful insight into John’s concerns and thinking. Of course, the first of the letters, brief as it is, contains so many profound truths relating to discipleship.
Love More, Sin Less (103) - When we actively pursue love instead of just avoiding sin, we begin to love as Jesus loves and to develop a heart where sin has no attraction and no foothold. The concept is simple, but the results are immense – love more, sin less.
Deuteronomio, un Llamado al Amor, la Santidad y la Obediencia (105) -
Becoming What You Believe (202) - Do our beliefs matter? What should we believe? Why should we believe it? This fundamentals class will offer suggestions to help you focus on the right beliefs, become what you believe and practice the Christian lifestyle.
Preparing to Teach (203) - Why do some Sunday Schools grow while others in the same area struggle and falter? A survey of churches with growing Sunday Schools revealed that the churches with the fastest growing Sunday Schools had implemented 9 of 10 common practices. The most common practice – 98% of the churches involved their teachers in training. The least used practice was still used by 78% of the churches. The purpose of this class is to help our teachers and those who would be teachers learn about class preparation, presentation, and programs that will help our Sunday School Classes grow. Come and let us learn together!
Wednesday Class Descriptions
Selected Parables of Jesus (AUD) - This class will be a series of lessons based on a selection of the parables of Jesus. It will emphasize practical application in the lives of disciples of Christ.
Learning to Encourage (103) - Encouragers are so needed among us. Indeed, the fellowship of the church should have encouragement as one of its major objectives. In this study you will have an opportunity to learn some “key” things about encouraging.
I Kings Part II (202) - Few books of the Old Testament are filled with such familiar and exciting events in the development of Israel and, ultimately, the divided kingdom as the book of 1 Kings. From the wonderful beginning of Solomon’s reign, his tragic failures and “apostasy”, the scandals of Jezebel to the reforms of Jehoshaphat this book cries out for the interest of serious Bible students. This class is a continuation from the Fall Quarter.
Koinonia (203) - What does fellowship mean to you? The New Testament teaching on “fellowship in Christ” has deep spiritual meaning and requires practical action on the part of each and every member of the church. This class will study the nature, scope, need and discipline associated with Christian fellowship.
